A lot of law firms have been around for quite some time, and as busy lawyers, they don’t always have the time to think about things like marketing or technology. Whether you do so in-house or with us here at Cover 3, we cannot stress the importance of having a crisp, professional website enough. 

Your website is a reflection of your business and will serve as the first-impression for a majority of prospective clients nowadays. Creating a website that talks about the history of your firm, the passion of your partners, and the areas of expertise you practice in is the first step towards the next level of growth your firm has been seeking. 

A modern website inspires confidence in potential customers. They feel they can trust you with their business because of the professional aura and attention to detail associated with your new site. 


Tip #2: Create a Social Media Presence

The degree to which you’ll build out your social media presence will vary from firm to firm depending on capacity and specific legal specialities, but EVERY law firm would benefit at least a little from creating a social media presence. Social media is a great way to drive traffic to the stunning new website you just built! It’s also a great medium to share glowing reviews from former clients with prospective new ones.

If you want to go above and beyond, create a Twitter or an Instagram. Twitter has a dedicated legal community–it may just take some time to get traction for your account. If you don’t mind being in front of the camera, considering creating a YouTube!

Law school students will tell you that becoming a lawyer means doing a lot of reading and writing; so it only makes sense for a law firm to create a blog! Creating a blog and posting content is a great way to leverage SEO and gain site viewership. By creating your content with a strategy in mind, you can anticipate what people will be searching for and then have the answers ready for them on your website.

There are so many options for content creation too: client success stories, general legal news, videos on legal advice, legal podcasts, and more! The important thing is that you are answering questions and helping your audience (most of whom have no legal experience at all) get some important information on something they need help with. This creates trust and value in their eyes!

One of the best ways for law firms to continue to get work or new customers is to increase customer loyalty by creating and maintaining an email list. An email list serves as a directory of sorts for the community surrounding your business. It’s a direct access point into former and current clients and can be leveraged to garner reviews, promote referrals, or to share content that drives traffic to your website.
