When it comes to small businesses and making sales, it’s safe to say that the landscape looks a bit different than say 10 years ago, or even 10 months ago.
As the famous Bob Dylan once said, “For the times they are a-changin”, and he couldn’t be more accurate.
During these times of Covid, political unrest and financial crisis that so many families and businesses alike are experiencing, it’s easy to resign from all sales and marketing activities out of fear of seeming “tone deaf” to what’s happening around us.
Here’s the thing; if you understand that selling truly is about serving your customers, you will realize that it’s actually quite selfish to not actively build relationships, prospect, schedule sales meetings and close new deals.
With this in mind, here are 3 ways on how to get more sales:
Lead with building relationships
This might seem obvious, but keep leveraging both your marketing and outbound sales efforts to build relationships and trust with your customers. It’s how you establish yourself as a leader in your industry and how people will remember you during times of crisis.
Rework your messaging
Marketing and sales look much different than a year ago. Put the compassion back into all of your messaging. This can be adding language about how your business is handling COVID, what you’re doing to help out your community/customers and any extended payment options you can offer to make it easier on customers. A few tweaks go a long way.
Remember the Power of Social Proof
In a sea of competition, how do you stand out best aside from your branding and marketing? Simple, let your happy customers do the talking FOR you. Give incentives for reviews and testimonials. Leverage places such as your GMB listing, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and especially your website to display all the great things your customers are saying about you.
Remember, the most successful entrepreneurs and businesses grew the most during times of crisis. As long as they remained aware, flexible and kept their ears open to what each customer needed most from them. The same can be said for your business. Why? Because you CAN and SHOULD keep selling! With relationships, strong messaging, and social proof, the question of how to get more sales can go away. If you need help in any of these areas, we would love to help.
